Yayasan Tunku Naquiyuddin was established in 1995 with the vision to help the underprivileged and provide college subsidies. However, an active consciousness on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) began 31 years ago, before CSR was even a buzzword in Malaysia.
It statrted with Antah Healthcare, one of Tunku Naquiyuddin’s companies, helping those who were visually impaired. Personal interest and providing assistance quietly has led to the establishment of YTN.
Being part of the Negeri Sembilan royalty family, Tunku Naquiyuddin already had the interest of the people in his heart. However, his enthusiasm in Corporate Social Responsibility was further peaked after becoming a member in the World Business Council For Sustainable Development in 1992. It was a United Nation’s initiative that invited 48 corporate leaders around the world to discuss businesses’ inescapable role in sustainable development. Tunku Naquiyuddin was the only Malaysian representative among the corporate giants.
Enpowered by knowledge and foresight, Tunku Naquiyuddin began to actively implement Sustainable Development within his companies. The consciousness didn’t end there. Tunku Naquiyuddin was already in touch with people as he had been extending help quietly for many years. But he realized he needed a formal platform to amplify his efforts and reach more people. Thus Yayasan Tunku Naquiyuddin came to life in 1995.
